Classes
The most
important part of campus, but also the anti-climax to every student’s
experience at campus.
With
computers in most classes, practical lessons make theory classes seem more
optional, and with the freedom that campus life brings, many learners, as a
result, end up spending more time in the cafeteria than in actual classes.
As first
years, the adjustment from high-school to university can be daunting. Some days
have an early start, while others only start in the afternoons, making getting
out of bed seem that much more laborious.
Timetable
changes at the beginning to the year took a particular toll on Group A,
starting the year off with having Fridays free and ending up having class until
4pm left many students disappointed and angered.
With the
new tutorial periods in place, CPUT aims to assist students in Development
Software and Information Systems, and although these lessons eat into our free
time, the end result is definitely worth the effort.
Everyday walk to Campus
Burger King Opening
So... Burger King Opened today, we decide to take a look at the opening and maybe even get a FREE Whopper, we get there at 10h00 and the queues are already very long, despite the opening being at 12h00...
We decided against out Free Whoppers and walked back to Campus to get a HUGE Gatsby Rather at the low price of R40
Mountain Dew #DoTheDewSA
Today Mountain Dew visited CPUT Cape Town Campus as part of the Mountain Dew "Do The Dew SA" Universities Tour. Was an awesome experience offering plenty of free prizes, Xbox games live, free learn how to skateboard lesson by Professional Skateboarders and a Custom Graffiti Skateboard Deck to the person who wins the #DoTheDewSA tweet competition, having about 70 tweets i thought i was going to win just to be surprised by a guy with 170 tweets. Nevertheless the BMX and Skateboard tricks and stunts were amazing and all in all we had a great experience.
CPUT Cape Town Campus
Before we ramble about our campus life, I thought it would be appropriate to give a bit of info about our actual campus.
- Did you know that the first brick was laid in 1920!!pretty awesome I’d say
- It also wasn't initially a tertiary education institute, as there was once an act that did not allow for technikons to offer it.
- It is now amongst the most well renowned institutes in the Southern part of Africa.
- Its located in the heart of District 6 for those who do not know.
Okay enough of the boring stuffs
- Just look at that mountain view!!!
- Our campus has the craziest events on the piazza where they host live music band performances to Bmx trick shows... narly right?
- We are literally 2 minutes away from Cape Town City Central.
This is all just the tip of the ice berg,
and as you can see, this is the place to be to excel and at the same time have
a great social life…
